Welcome, new patients!

It is a real privilege for Piedra Dental Group to get to know you and your family. Our dental “family” is committed to providing exceptional patient care, which is built on a foundation of excellent and supportive communication. To start off on the right foot, our  Cooper City, Florida team is pleased to provide a glimpse into what to expect during your first dentist visit.

A warm welcome!

We aim to please. The moment you walk through our doors, you will immediately notice the difference between our practice and the “typical” dental clinic. Our surroundings were designed to put you at ease, with creature comforts borrowed from the boutique wellness and spa industry. To further support a positive start in your journey with us, our “hospitality team” greets you by name and makes you feel like family.

The complete exam

To understand your current needs, Dr. Alejandro Piedra carefully examines not only your teeth and gums but also other parts of your mouth and face. Our dentist is assessing by sight and feeling by touch for potential signs of problems, such as tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, TMJ dysfunction, and more.

X-rays

Advanced technologies complement our dentist’s considerable diagnostic know-how. These technologies allow him and our periodontist, Dr. Robert Weishoff, to detect what cannot be seen by the eye or felt by touch alone. If you recently had X-rays done at another office, we can have those records transferred to us. X-rays and other imaging are also ordered based on what our dentist finds during your exam. If/when we take X-rays and perform other tests depends on your needs. Know that any time we take these images of your mouth, you are in very safe hands; our X-rays and imaging techniques are a minimal source of radiation exposure. With our advanced technologies, we can even show you live, Hi-Def images of what is going on inside your mouth to better aid in a clear understanding of your oral health and needs.

A pleasant conversation

Piedra Dental Group recognizes that you are more than a set of teeth and gums. During your appointment, we get to know you as the whole, one-of-a-kind person that you are. Be prepared to discuss questions about your goals, preferences, nutrition, home care, lifestyle, and so on. This information complements what our dentists finds from a comprehensive exam and imaging. All of this knowledge informs his treatment recommendations. They equip you with the info, so you can make those decisions that are in the best long-term interests of your health. From there, we can get you into a healthy routine and plan for the “next steps.” In general, all patients, regardless of their current health, can benefit from check-ups scheduled every six months. These check-ups include the complete exam, X-rays (as needed), and a professional dental cleaning.
