Piedra Dental Group takes great pride in providing the highest-quality, long-lasting care within a warm and welcoming setting to our neighbors in and around Cooper City, Florida. Our quality care is defined by extensive training and technologies to support advanced treatments. These treatments include custom dental crowns designed on computer software for strength, functions, and natural esthetics.

What exactly are crowns?
Your teeth are made up of natural crowns. This is the visible, white part of the tooth (above the gums). When this part of your tooth becomes damaged due to decay or trauma, it becomes weak. It may be vulnerable to further damage. Without treatment, the tooth could be lost. Dental crowns are specially prepared and shaped to cover the remaining healthy tooth structure. In turn, a crown effectively strengthens the damaged tooth, prevents further damage, and restores its health and appearance.
How are crowns made?
Crowns have traditionally been made in two visits. The first visit generally involves preparing both the natural tooth and the crown. Damaged tissue is removed from the tooth. The tooth is also reshaped so that the crown will fit on top of it perfectly. Information about the tooth, which an outside lab uses to make the crown, is also collected. A temporary crown is applied to protect the prepared tooth. The second visit involves removing the temporary crown, fitting the permanent crown for size, and cementing it to the tooth if everything looks and feels right. If the crown looks off or doesn’t fit properly, it would need to be remade. The process of making a crown typically takes at least two weeks.

What are same-day crowns?
Our dental office has invested in 3D printing and other advanced computer-aided technologies to support the best treatment experience and outcomes. Same-day crowns are a perfect example of this advanced, technology-driven approach. This brings all the technologies needed to plan, design, fabricate, and place your crown in-house. Our team can use special software and equipment to make these crowns in one appointment. This means:
- No wait to get your crown
- No fragile temporary
- No return trips to our office
- No hassle if adjustments need to be made
While this technology is exciting and innovative, we remain case selective when doing them so we can ensure longevity dental care. We typically focus on crowns that are crafted with advanced materials from trusted outside labs. As the technology continues to improve, we will be right there with it to offer the convenience we all desire.
Do you use high-quality materials for crowns?
By using trusted lab partners and premium materials like Zirconia and E.max, we achieve exceptional strength, fit, and esthetics. Using our intraoral scanners, instead of impression materials, we can make your crown precisely and correctly the first time, minimizing the risk of human errors. We also have quality control over the finished product and every step in the process. These ceramics look like natural teeth and are incredibly strong.
